On
August 3, 2007 Zaca fire officials ordered the evacuation
of the Paradise Road area. Governor
Schwarzenegger signed a state declaration of emergency
for the Zaca fire.
The following photos
were all taken the following day, Saturday, August 4th
from Santa Ynez Rancho Estates located near Happy Canyon
Road and Baseline Avenue in Santa Ynez. I
captured all images with a Canon 20D and Tamron 28-300mm
zoom lens.
I was enthralled
by the changing cloud formations formed by the smoke
from the Zaca Fire, which was burning in multiple locations
that day. The
first four photos were taken in the afternoon.
The nighttime images
were captured between 9:00 – 10:00 pm on August 4th. Although
the Zaca fire had been burning for a month, this was
one of the few nights that flames were clearly visible
from Santa Ynez.
