Don Shay knows Africa intimately from his 15 trips there beginning in
1987. Along with his wife, Estelle, he has visited many African nations,
from Kenya to Namibia to Zambia, immersing himself in the teeming life in
dozens of wildlife parks and preserves found there.
Founder and publisher of Cinefex, a quarterly magazine dealing with motion
picture visual effects, Shay brings not only his keen artistic photographic
eye to bear on this book, but also his considerable writing talents to
render a thorough text rich in information and entertainment. At 320 pages
featuring 238 stunning photographs, this is not just a lovely "coffee table
book;" ENDANGERED LIAISONS puts the reader into the safari experience so
that they live it with him. The book has seven chapters, each concerned with
a particular species of animal and its environs. Lions, mountain gorillas,
African wild dogs, elephants and others are all addressed in telling detail.
The final chapter covers African conservation efforts and shares Don's
insights on how his beloved creatures have fared over his twenty years of
observing them. Indeed, a portion of the sale of each and every copy of this
book goes to support the African Wildlife Foundation [www.awf.org].
For further information on Don and his book, contact his wife, Estelle, by
